T
his week was the first time in awhile I was able to find some time to get into my studio. I’ve been spending a lot of time working on wedding planning. I’ll be the first to say that I underestimated the amount of work that goes into creating a festive day to celebrate a love and commitment. And with all this wedding talk, it hit me this week that I hadn’t created a layout to celebrate our engagement this past September.
We had a special engagement on what turned out to be one of the most wonderful days ever. The event took place in our new home on our red corduroy couch. This was the last place I ever thought I would say “YES” to the biggest question ever! In retrospect, I was happy it happened in a place where we are building our life together on a piece of furniture that is dear to my heart on a day that was just sublime.
My biggest worry leading up to our engagement revolved around who would be present to snap of photos of the moment. When it turned out to be just the two of us, I was quick to grab the camera and start taking photos with my automatic timer. It ended up that the photo on our wedding blog was taken by Todd holding the camera in front of us. The next series of photos had us both laughing. Todd dancing. Me requesting he get me my phone from the other room. Him making jokes about the marriage already starting. It was fun. The most interesting
was posting our engagement photo on Facebook and watching the comments and “likes” roll in. Todd doesn’t participate in social media so it was particularly eye opening for him.
Most of all, I loved the details of that day. Todd dropping hints to me. Me finishing up writing my contribution to Whimsy For Wendys. Us going to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. The night spent listening to great tunes, drinking wine in our new home together. Just being what we love to be…together.
It’s clear to me that planning a traditional wedding can involve a lot of work. But with Todd and our family and friends, it is turning out to be full of ease and fun.
This design is what I like to call a leftover layout. Basically meaning I found most of the pieces – the bracket background and the date embellishment, laying around the studio waiting to be used. All the paper is from the CTMH Autumn Color Shade pack. The title was stamped using cocoa ink and the Trinity Alphabet. I made the date with the CTMH Stamp of The Month from January. The bracket was cut using the CTMH Art Philosophy Cartridge.
What is a story that you would love to flashback to this week? Find a photo of time that hold a very special place in your heart and commit to just telling the story. Who was there? What did it look like? How did you feel.
